Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships offer businesses the unique opportunity to meet skills and recruitment needs whilst benefitting from some time limited offers in the coming year.
Businesses already employing apprentices say that:
- Training apprentices can be more cost effective than hiring skilled staff, leading to lower training & recruitment costs
- Training apprentices can help businesses to develop the specialist skills needed in your sector, now and for the future, keeping up to date with technology
- Turnover can reduce as apprentices are seen to be more committed to employers that are investing in them
- A great opportunity to ‘grow your own’
The National Apprenticeship Service is currently offering £1,500 to SMEs taking on a new apprentice. The Greater Manchester Commitment offers a further £750 to any employer who recruits a young unemployed candidate as an apprentice.
If an employer recruits a ‘Higher Apprentice’, this top up increases to £1000 per person.
Employers can have the young person working with them on a ‘working interview’. The GM Commitment will
pay the young person an allowance while they are undertaking the Apprenticeship Trial.
This is a great opportunity to recruit an unemployed young person and make the most of the offer. If you are an employer and you are interested in taking on an Apprentice Click here (30kb)
