Health, Work and Wellbeing
Work Themes: Health; Employment
Health, work and well-being is about making the positive links between mental and physical health, and work.
Many people in Greater Manchester are in employment or self-employment, in education or in training. Many will remain economically active for most of their working lives. However, there are a significant number of people who will have fallen out of work as a consequence of health and wellbeing issues. Many will experience physical or mental ill health as a result of poor workplace practices.
Manchester also has high numbers of people in receipt of a sickness related benefit. Research has shown that many of these people would like to active in the workplace and their local communities. New Economy is working with partners across the city to help local people to stay in and get into work.
