Combined Authority
The ten authorities in Greater Manchester are the first in the country to develop a statutory Combined Authority which will co-ordinate key economic development, regeneration and transport functions. The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) was established on the 1st April 2011.
The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) will continue to act as the voice of the ten local authorities of Greater Manchester but as part of a much stronger partnership with GMCA. A new Transport for Greater Manchester Committee will assist the GMCA in carrying out its transport functions.
The new governance arrangements have been developed in order to boost economic performance and help deliver a brighter future for Greater Manchester and the North West.
Further information on the GMCA can be found on the AGMA website
