New Economy’s Board

New Economy is wholly owned by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. It has a company board in place to meet the requirements of company law including discharging the annual accounts of the company.

The Board of Directors is made up of:

Sir Howard Benstein – Head of Paid Service, Combined Authority
Richard Paver – Treasurer, Combined Authority
Susan Orrell – Monitoring Officer, Combined Authority
Barbara Spicer – AGMA Lead Chief Executive – Economic Development
Mike Emmerich – Chief Executive

New Economy also receives strategic direction from, and works on behalf of, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the primary accountable body responsible for resource allocation and prioritisation, and the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership.

The Local Enterprise Partnership provides important support in terms of strategic direction to the Centre of Excellence, overseeing the development and delivery of our strategy for growth and fulfils a performance review and management role.
