Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research
The Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research (CCSR), based at the University of Manchester is a leading research centre focusing on population, economic and social statistics.
Centre for Sustainable Urban and Regional Futures
Based at the University of Salford, SURF focuses on the key areas of governance, knowledge and innovation, and environment and energy. The site is devoted to the Centre’s research outputs, and provides links to other international networks and advisory boards.
Centre for Local Economic Strategies
Describing itself as an ‘independent thinking-doing organisation, with charitable status’, the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) is a Manchester-based organisation that works in areas of regeneration, local economic development and local government.
Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research
The Centre For Regional and Social Research (CRESR) focuses on social and economic regeneration, housing and labour market analysis. CRESR also conducts leading research into ‘hidden’ unemployment and homelessness.
Centre for Urban Policy Studies
The Centre for Urban Policy Study (CUPS) was established by Professor Brian Robson in 1983 at the University of Manchester to develop research on urban and regional policy. The website includes a variety of research into urban policy, as well as current and past studies and presentations.
Gapminder
An interesting site which provides maps and graphs of the UN’s open database of intelligence. Figures cover the economy, health, trade and a variety of other subjects.
AGMA Information Sharing
Password protected site for GM authority officers to download datasets such as house prices, ACORN and household income. Email Mike Doocey for a password.
Data GM
DataGM has been created by public sector organisations in Greater Manchester, to release and bring together in one place, as much of the data they hold as possible. Developed in partnership, DataGM is coordinated by Trafford Council in partnership with FutureEverything which seeks out and shares new art forms and technologies in creative ways.
